Paris, Texas
is located less than 100 miles from the Dallas / Fort Worth Metroplex, at the
edge of the Piney Woods region of Texas in Lamar County. With a population of
more than 25,000, Paris is one of the larger cities in Northeast Texas and the
“Second Largest Paris in the World”. In his 1998 book “The New Rating Guide to Life
in America’s Small Cities,” Kevin Heubusch ranked Paris as the “best small town
in Texas”. Paris is home to a variety of historical landmarks, including a
70-foot replica of the Eiffel Tower, topped with a big red cowboy hat.
Once a major
cotton exchange, the largest employer in Paris is now Essent Healthcare, which
operates the Paris Regional Medical Center. Outside of healthcare, the largest
employers in the city are Kimberly-Clark paper products and Campbell’s Soup.
Paris is bordered by the Loop 286, which runs in a complete circle around the
city. The inner portion of the city is served by the Paris Independent School
District, while the northern and southern portions of the city outside of the
beltway are served by the North Lamar Independent School District and Chisum
Independent School District, respectively. Secondary eduction is provided by
Paris Junior College.
What makes
Paris such a desirable city to live in is the fact that it is not far from the
Dallas / Fort Worth Metroplex, yet it still maintains a small town feel. Many
residents commute in their Chevrolets, from Paris to the northern suburbs of
Dallas via State Highway 82 for a higher level of shopping, dining and
entertainment than what is currently offered in Lamar County. State Highway 82
takes commuters directly into the city of Sherman, where Ramey Chevrolet is
located (just south of Hwy. 82 on US 75 at Lamberth Road). Ramey is a great
choice for a new or used vehicle, and offers a wider range of selection than
what is available in Paris. If you are on the hunt for a new or used Chevrolet,
consider making the short drive from Paris to Sherman today; we will make it
worth the drive!
